It wouldn’t register my petition. No explanation.

I have successful signed up. Thanks for sharing – -anything practical we can do rather than comment and read on the topic is most welcome.

I just want to share this lnk from a good Catholic source which provides great background to the current situation and Egypt’s recent political past. Certainly helped me to understand better what is going on. Written by a Fr. Samir in Egypt.

Quick extract on the media position: “We should also mention here their two faced statements of recent days: speaking to English language media they depicted themselves as victims of democracy, emphasizing human rights, the army’s violence, the “coup”, etc. …instead to Arab media they spoke of the struggle against the West, the positions to be taken of jihad to strengthen and rebuild the caliphate.” — maybe reporters are just taking what their told and not doing the analysis or the seeing for themselves.

It seems to be registering now (was up from 54 to 66) when I signed.

We need to do as much as we can to share the link and promote the signing of this petition. It needs a lot of signatories to make any impact. I will tweet and share as best as I can, but for the sake of Kerolos and all Egyptian Christians, we need to encourage many others to join the cause. Perhaps everyone could submit the link to their local parish newsletters. Every Catholic should willingly sign it – whether they are Churchgoers or not.

Nick, just as I give Satan his worst nightmare, you moderate my comment. I am being perfectly serious when I read the signs of the times as follows.

I believe that the apparitions of Our Lady at Fatima, together with the return of the Jews to the Land of Israel and the re-establishment of their political sovereignty, are a providential promulgation of a divine sentence of the temporal sword against those who are guilty of genocide against the people of God, and so answer the description of Amalek. The judicial execution of Adolf Eichmann by the State of Israel is a demonstration of that sentence.

This judgement is according to a principle of divine law illustrated by the story of Esther, which serves as a parable of how God deals with the event of genocide against Jews or Christians, or the threat of it. The crisis of faith which the Evil One has been busy with has been aimed at blinding the people of God so that we cannot perceive this judgement and so concur with it, which we must do on pain of sin.

The triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is indicated in Esther 8:12s-12u, and her warning of the annihilation of several nations corrssponds to Esther 8:12v.

As they say among the Jews, go study!

there is a difference between being perfectly serious and perfectly sane.

      Just saying.

      • Michael Petek

Jim, you only have to look at Captain Edmund Blackadder to see he’s as sane as I am. Baaaah!!

In reality I am both serious and sane. Sister Lucia of Fatima spoke of coming divine chastisements of the world. The message of Medjugorje also alludes to this.

These warnings are perfectly in line with Scripture, and with the story of Esther. One of the chastisements is surely the destruction of Amalek. The other is the punishment of the nations which refuse to come to the rescue of the Jews and the Christians when threatend or killed by genocide.

Consider the prophecy of Caiaphas, when God said through him that it is better for one man to die for the people than for the whole nation to be destroyed (John 11:49-51).

One possible interpretation of this is that, if Jesus had not gone to the cross, the ancient enmity between Himself and the human race (Genesis 3:15) would have remained, so that God would have destroyed the people in the sending of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

Another possible interpretation is that Jesus had to die and enter His glorified state in order to be given the fullness of divine power He needs to destroy the seed of Amalek and so to protect of His people until the end of time from destruction. This is promised by God in Exodus 17 and commanded of the sons of Israel in Deuteronomy 25.

Jesus is, of course, a divine Person and a son of Israel, so He can fulfil both scriptures.

We are not invited to be sons of thunder. Nor is it the way of God.

      Mark 3:
      17 James, son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James, whom he named Boanerges, that is, sons of thunder;

      Luke 9:
52 and he sent messengers ahead of him. On the way they entered a Samaritan village to prepare for his reception there,
53 but they would not welcome him because the destination of his journey was Jerusalem.
54 When the disciples James and John saw this they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them?”
55 Jesus turned and rebuked them,

      • Michael Petek

Thank you, Michael B Rooke, but different facts demand a different principle.

Refusal to welcome Jesus amd His emissaries is a grave sin, but it is not a crime of any description, let alone the crime of Amalek.

Genocide as defined in international law is a crime of an exceptionally heinous character. It is severely punished by the civil authorities, and in the State of Israel it carries the death penalty.

When the victim group is the Jews or the Christians, then the crime of genocide is the crime of Amalek, and the Divine Judge undertakes to punish it Himself and to destroy those who commit it. If not, then He has made no adequate provision for the indestructibility of Israel and the Church until the end of time.

When Christ’s judgement is revealed, then His faithful must concur with it because Christ is the authentic Judge and Interpreter of His own revelation. There is by definition no appeal nor recourse beyond the Supreme Authority.

          @Michael Petek

It is important to distinguish between civil law and Divine Law. Civil law also called positive law should reflect the Divine Law but always does not.
The Holocaust for example was legal.

In March 1933, the Enabling Act, allowed Hitler and his cabinet to pass laws—even laws that violated the constitution—without the consent of the president or the Reichstag.

The Civil Service Restoration Act, Gesetz zur Wiederherstellung des Berufsbeamtentums, abreviated to Berufsbeamtengesetz) of April 1933 the Law for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service which meant eliminating Jews from the Civil Service then education and universities.

Then followed The Nuremberg Laws, Nürnberger Gesetze , of 1935. This was The Law for the Protection of German Blood and German Honour which banned interracial marriage with Jews.

The Unworthy of Life “Lebensunwertes Leben” law of 1939 on euthanasia led to the the holocaust. This was also known as Aktion T4 was a personal decision of Hitler who used the personal decree of the leader, the Führerprinzip, for implementation which in turn was legal through The Enabling Act.

We have our Lebensunwertes Leben laws in the form of abortion laws.

          • Michael Petek

Your point is not pertinent. The international criminal prohibiting genocide is undoubtedly a just law, as is the penalty of death or imprisonment, as prescribed by law.

Divine law itself defines that, where the victim group is the Jews or the Christians, the guilty party is “herem”, under the curse of destruction and must be put to death.

This is the reason for God’s judgement manifested in His sending of Our Lady to Fatima in 1917 – on the 13th day of successive months (reference to the book of Esther) followed by the Balfour Declaration, the return of the Jews to the Land of Israel and the restoration of their political sovereignty there.

The occasion for the judgement was the genocide of the Assyrian, Armenian and Greek Christians of the Ottoman Empire, and God’s foresight of the great anti-Christian and anti-Jewish genocides of the 20th and 21st centuries.
